TWELFTH TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My last teaching experience was very exciting because the activities worked well and the students were motivated participating in the different activities i carried out. I tried to do my best as in all classes and I could see students’ faces of satisfaction and also the teacher was satisfied and he told me that the class was very nice. He just gave me some pieces of advice.

These experiences were very meaningful for me because I have learned many things which are going to be useful in my life as a teacher.

I HAD MY ELEVENTH TEACHING EXPERIENCE LAST WEDNESDAY BUT I DID NOT LIKE IT THAT MUCH. I WAS EXPLAINING THE GRAMMAR FOCUS AND IT WAS ABOUT HOW MUCH, HOW MANY, COUNTABLE AND NON-COUNTABLE NOUNS. BUT I HAD TO EXPLAIN MANY DETAILS AND I THINK STUDENTS WERE CONFUSED BECAUSE I COULD SEE THEIR FACES. I THINK I EXPLAINED IT AS CLEAR AS I COULD BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHY THOSE THINGS HAPPEN. I BELIEVE THEY WERE GOING TO UNDERSTAND THAT IN THE PRACTICE PHASE. NEXT CLASS I THINK WILL BE BETTER BECAUSE I WILL TRY TO DO IT THAT WAY.

MY TENTH CLASS EXPERIENCE

This experience was very nice because I arrived on time and the teacher also arrived early, so I could stasr the class early. Everything went ok and the students enjoyed the class because let me tell you that Basic English is a group that enjoy talking a lot but in English, and they also like to participate a lot in the different activities. That behavior helps me as the teacher because almost all the activities work.
I only had some comments or suggestions from the tuttor but in  general he told me that the class was very nice.

NINTH TEACHING PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE

Now that we have experienced teaching to different groups, we are more confident about teaching, and it is not difficult to get accustomed to different groups. This teaching experience was great for me because everything went well and I just have some recommendations from the teacher. He told me to it was okay and he didn’t have many comments.
I was explaining the different adjectives to describe people’s age, height, clothes, accessories, etc. what I did was to explain a category for example then, I told them a riddle. After that, I continued explaining the other category, and at the end, I told them another riddle. The teacher told me it was very nice because students seemed interested about what I was explaining.
I want you to answer these three riddles:

1)      What is the letter of the alphabet that is a verb?
2)      What is the letter of the alphabet that is an insect?
3)      What is the letter of the alphabet that is always complaining?
I hope you to answer them…

LAST CLASS THIS PERIOD

On Wednesday, it was my last class with Basic English. It was the best experience I had and it is because of the results and because with that class, I advanced a lot.
As arrived on time and prepared everything I was going to use. Then, I was a little bit nervous because my class was going to be recorded and observed by a great teacher and friend   from whom I have learned a lot.

I started the class with a warm up reviewing the last topic studied and students participated doing what I wanted them to do. The teacher congratulated me because of the warm up activity and he said it was nice because it helped them to refresh the topic which was the base for the one I was going to teach.

I continued explaining the pronunciation of the simple past regular verbs. It took me long to explain because I provided the rules and one example for each symbol. After that, I developed some activities including two very controlled and one semi controlled activities. I did not have enough time to deal with the free activity but with the activities I developed, I could notice students managed the topic.

At the end the teacher told me it was the best class and he just gave me some recommendations to improve my development as a teacher.

My third teaching practice was very nice as I arrived late and i could not start the class on time. I developed the grammar part and I also had students develop some practice which was very nice because students were interested on doing that and they also were asking many questions. It happened to me that one student started asking questions and I answered but he insisted asking again almost the same questions. His problem is that he has watched English movies and he has seen the uses of the prepositions of time different from the uses I explained. What I answered is that the English used in movies is not in agreement with the grammatical rules of it, as when we use Spanish inappropriately, and we do not care about the rules.

I couldn’t finish the activities because a practice I carried out was very difficult for them to finish, but the activities I developed were very nice and the teacher congratulated me because of the warm up activity I developed.
At the moment of the feedback session the teacher told me the activities I developed were very nice. Something he told me is that when you present a chart containing something about grammar, and then you have students practice what you have explained; you have to leave the chart on the board because some students do not take notes and they need the chart to see if what they are doing is okay. He also insisted on constantly encouraging student to use the language.
For me this experience was very nice and I enjoyed it.

second experience

When you have more time to prepare your class, everything goes better than when you do not have enough time to prepare the material you need to use.

Hi colleagues I am back again writing about my experience in the second teaching practicum this second period. Let me tell you that it has been my best experience because almost everything went excellent except that I did not teach the forty five minutes I was supposed to.

The teacher just told me that I had to push more students to speak English because as I said before, students can use their English but they do not like to use it. Another thing the teacher corrected me was the pronunciation of just three words.

I can say it was a nice experience and I tried to do my best but sometimes we cannot deal with unexpected situations unless we are already prepared to deal with those situations.

teaching experience with Basic

MY FIRST TEACHING EXPERIENCE WITH BASIC
Today it was my first teaching experience with Basic English and it was very nice because I arrived just on time, so I could set everything before all the students arrived and I started the class some minutes before it was supposed to.
The warm up was very nice because students looked interested on what they were doing and they enjoyed it. This group of students is kind of difficult to deal with sometimes because they do not like to use their English even though they know in English what they want to express or unless you understand what they want to say.
Something that happened is that it was kind of difficult to call their attention after developing a speaking activity because they continue speaking even though you ask them to finish the activity; and based on that the teacher suggested me to look for a strategy to call their attention, so next time I will do something.
As it is a group of 24 students, it is very difficult to have them all participate, so I just have to ask questions to some of them. The activities I developed were very nice and something that I liked was that at the end of the class I heard some comments like: good teacher, it was nice, etc.
As a feedback, the teacher told me I have to push students a little bit more to use their English because that is the only place they can practice it.
I can say it was the class in which I had less observations from the tutor and I come to the conclusion that it could be because it is a  lower level and the topics are easier than in Intermediate English

fourth experience

My fourth teaching experience was the best one as I had enough time to investigate about the topic and that’s why I was ready to answer students’ questions. The topic was Phrasal Verbs, and I know it sounds difficult but I was lucky and I had just to develop some activities related with that topic. As I said before, it was the best experience I had and there was not that much feedback. I developed a reading and hen, I asked some questions related to the article but I didn’t give them time to think about the answers and the teacher told me that I have to ask them the question and give them some minutes to think about the possible answers and then, all of them can participate and here won’t be any problem. I think it was a good feedback.

Third teaching experience

This third teaching experience was very nice because i started the class on time only with a student because the others had not arrived. Later on, they arrived, so I had to integrate them in the activities. I had to teach the grammar part and I tried to do my best. Everything was nice, and I think this is the best experience I have had. As always, the teacher corrects me the pronunciation of some words. He has been correcting me the pronunciation of some words since the first teaching experience but when he asks me to pronounce the words; I pronounce them in the correct way. It means that nervousness make us to mispronounce some words. This last time he told me that I spent too much time explaining the grammar part and I think it is because the students are not from Basic English, and I have decided to explain it faster next time.

SECOND EXPERIENCE

There is not that much to say about my second experience in the teaching practicum. The first thing that happened is that the teacher who was in the room when I arrived didn't want to leave and I wanted to arrange the desks and prepare some things before hand. When the teacher finally left, I did what I had to do in a hurry and I started to teach. The class was very nice and I had to explain the grammar part which not all the teachers enjoy doing. Lol.

I explained the grammar part and then I developed some activities. Something the teacher corrected me is that I have give the instructions  first when carrying out an activity and then I deliver the material students are going to use because sometimes if you give them the material first, they start developing the activity without paying attention to what you say. Another suggestion was to take into account all the students for example when you develop activities in pairs and a student remains, you have to give him something to do, maybe you ask him to take the time or something.
I really enjoyed my class.

FIRST TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Today it was a wonderful day for me because I had my first experience in the teaching practicum for me. I think it was amazing because all the students participated in the different activities and they really enjoyed the Warm-up I presented. the warm-up is called Ban-Ban, and I learnt it somewhere. I could notice that those students really like to participate it doesn't matter if they make mistakes. I arrived very early to the classroom and there were no students yet. then, some students appeared but they didn't enter because they so the teacher was not there. It was kind of funny because maybe they thought it was the wrong room, lol. I think everything went okay just kind of nervous and that's why some words cannot be pronounced well. When I finished my class, the teacher started telling the students the mistakes they had made during my presentation, so now I know I have to do it, too.
